In the beginning it is 1945 and Mr.Frank has found Anne's diary. He reads the diary and he has flashbacks remembering how he was trapped in an attic for 2 years with the rest of his family, the Van Daans, Dussel, Mr.Kraler, Miep, and Peter's cat Mouschi.
In the middle is 1942 in Holland. All of them are in the attic. While Anne lived in the attic she had nightmares that the Nazis will capture her.They were there because they were hiding from the Nazis which were controlling Europe and wanted to exterminate all Jews. The Van Daans, Franks and Dussel were all Jews. Dussel was moving in with the rest of them when Mr.Kraler brought him because he had nowhere to stay. Dussel had move in with Anne in her room because they didn't want him to stay with Margot who was Anne's older sister. Mr. and Mrs.Frank were afraid Dussel would harass Margot since she was older. Everybody who lived in the attic were mad because their food was scarce and they had one more mouth to feed. Everybody spent Hanukkah in the attic. Anne gave everybody a gift, they also had a menorah and had a feast. One day when every body was relaxing a thief when in and robbed a radio which they used to here what was going on, the thief also stole money, but before the thief left Peter Van Daan fell of a chair and made a loud noise which scared the thief away. Everybody who lived in the attic was scared ,because the thief might get caught and he will snitch to the Gestapo that there are people hiding there. Later on Mr.Kraler gets blackmailed by the owner of the store in which they are hiding. The person who blackmailed him was Karl. The threat to Mr.Kraler was that if he didn't give Karl 20 guilders every week he would snitch on them. Then Mr.Kraler found out that the blackmail wasn't real and Karl knew nothing.
In the end everybody thinks rats started stealing food, but is actually Mr.Van Daan. Mrs.Frank is really upset and tells him to leave with his wife. Mr.Frank defends the Van Daans. Peter Van Daan and Anne Frank start having feelings for each other. They see each other every night and talk they are always alone when they talk. Margot was getting sick and wasn't feeling any better. Then what everybody feared especially Anne had come, the thief who stole the radio had snitched and the Gestapo came for the Van Daans, Franks,and Dussel.

When Anne was in the concentration camp she die d of typhus which was a fatal sickness that Margot had. Everybody died and the only survivors were Mr.Frank,Mr.Kraler,and Miep.
